The state boasts rich cultural heritage, picturesque landscapes, and vibrant festivals, making it a premier destination for domestic and international tourists.
Over the past year, the Enugu State government has made significant strides in enhancing the tourism experience. Key achievements include the rehabilitation of major tourist sites such as Awhum Waterfall, Ngwo Pine Forest, and Udi Hills, as well as promoting cultural festivals like the Mmanwu Festival.
These initiatives aim to empower local communities, promote cultural preservation, and boost the state’s economy. In line with this year’s theme, the Ministry is exploring sustainable tourism investments that prioritize eco-friendly initiatives and partnering with private sector stakeholders to develop green tourism projects.
Dame Madueke emphasized the importance of tourism in fostering understanding, peace, and environmental responsibility. She called on stakeholders, including tour operators, investors, community leaders, and the general public, to support the state’s vision for sustainable tourism.
The Enugu State government remains committed to leveraging tourism as a tool for social and economic inclusion, particularly for women, youth, and marginalized communities.
