ENUGU STATE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (ESWAMA) ANNOUNCES CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL DUMPING AND LITTERING

The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced the commencement of enforcement against illegal dumping of refuse and littering in the state.

According to a public service announcement issued by ESWAMA, residents are required to use only designated and approved waste dumps, and anyone found violating this directive will be arrested and tried at the ESWAMA’s Environmental Court.

The announcement warned that throwing dirt out of a moving vehicle or tricycle is also an offense, and offenders will be prosecuted accordingly.

ESWAMA urged residents to cooperate with the authority in keeping the state clean and to report any cases of illegal dumping or littering to the authorities.

The announcement was signed by Andreas Gebauer, Special Assistant to the Governor on Water and Waste Management.
