HEALTH FOR ALL: CUSTOCARE FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH ENUGU’S FIRST LADY TO DELIVER FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH TO 700+ AWGU RESIDENTS

The CustosCare Foundation, in collaboration with the Office of Enugu’s First Lady, has successfully held a free medical outreach program for over 700 residents in Awgu Local Government Area. The program, held at the Awgu LGA headquarters, provided essential health services and medical care to the people of Awgu.

The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, received the team of professionals from the CustosCare Foundation and expressed his profound appreciation for the outreach, highlighting its significant positive impact on the health and well-being of the people of Awgu. “This initiative is a shining example of the CustosCare Foundation’s dedication to improving the lives of our people,” Hon. Okolo stated.

The outreach provided a comprehensive range of services, including testing and treatment for malaria, diabetes, hypertension, and HIV. Additionally, eye examinations, BMI checks, deworming for children, and distribution of free eyeglasses to those in need were carried out. Many residents also received personalized consultations and health education aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.

Comr. Egodi Igwe, Managing Director of the CustosCare Foundation, underscored the importance of strengthening communities through equitable access to healthcare. “We believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right, and we are committed to making it accessible to all,” Comr. Igwe said.

The outreach featured expert sessions, including a discussion on cervical cancer by Dr. Paul Nnagbo, who highlighted the importance of early detection and vaccination. “Cervical cancer is a preventable disease, and early detection is key to saving lives,” Dr. Nnagbo emphasized. Nurse Asogwa Philomena also shared valuable insights on healthy living, offering practical tips for incorporating wellness into everyday life.

Prof. Dr. Chidi Agu, Chairman of the Enugu State Hospital Management Board, led the medical team with professionalism and care, ensuring seamless coordination throughout the outreach.

Mrs. Mbah expressed her gratitude to Hon. Okolo and his wife, Mrs. Chioma Okolo, for their support, the people of Awgu for their warm reception and active participation, and the medical team and volunteers for their dedication.

“It was a day that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the community,” she said. “Together, we made a lasting difference, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who made this day unforgettable.”
