The Enugu SME Center has launched the second edition of its flagship animation training programme, the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training (EMAT), aimed at equipping young residents with world-class creative skills and connecting them to opportunities in the global digital economy.
The first edition of the programme empowered hundreds of youths, many of them total beginners, to grow into confident storytellers and creative professionals. While some graduates are now freelancing internationally, others are establishing their own studios—proof of the transformative impact of the initiative.
Building on that success, EMAT Batch 2 promises to be “bigger, bolder and more intentional.” Over 400 Enugu residents will benefit from up to 80 percent subsidised training in 2D Illustration and 3D Motion Design.
The programme is championed by the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and implemented through the Enugu SME Center under the Office of Digital Economy. It is run in partnership with Magic City Labs and led by mentors whose students have gone on to work with Netflix, Disney, Triggerfish, and top African studios.
Applications are open strictly to Enugu State residents and indigenes, with no prior experience required—only talent, commitment, and curiosity. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through the official portal: www.enugusme.en.gov.ng/emat.
