In a ceremony attended by distinguished members, elders, zonal officials, members of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and invited guests, Mrs. Ngene expressed profound gratitude to God and to members of the association for their confidence in her continued leadership.

She began her address by saying that it was with profound gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility that she stood before the gathering to begin her second tenure as Chairperson of the esteemed association, acknowledging God’s grace and the collective strength of the organization as her guiding forces.

Drawing inspiration from the book of Proverbs 3:5–6, she emphasized her reliance on divine direction rather than personal wisdom, noting that trusting in the Lord with all one’s heart and acknowledging Him in all ways ensures that He directs one’s path.

Reflecting on her first tenure, Comr. Ngene highlighted the association’s achievements, noting that unity, growth, and a strengthened collective voice were the major hallmarks of her administration. She commended members for their resilience and cooperation, stressing that their collective efforts had solidified the foundation of the organization and amplified the voice of women journalists in Enugu State.

She, however, cautioned against complacency, describing her re-election as a renewed call to greater service and innovation. According to her, the second tenure should not be a time to relax but a time to deepen the association’s impact, address lingering challenges, and build a stronger, more inclusive, and forward-looking organization.

Comr. Ngene pledged to consolidate on past achievements while innovating for the future, to prioritize capacity building, inclusiveness, and development for every member, to promote transparency, accountability, and effective communication, and to strengthen partnerships that will expand the association’s influence beyond its immediate environment.

She called on all executives, members, partners, and friends of NAWOJ to recommit themselves to the ideals and vision of the association, stressing that leadership was a collective effort. She further urged all members to work together in unity and purpose, assuring them that with teamwork and shared commitment, the association would continue to thrive.

The newly inaugurated executive team comprises Comr. Ngozi Ngene, Chairperson, Ministry of Information and Communication, Comr. Amaka Uchennadiukwu, Vice Chairperson, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Comr. Nnenna Igwe, Secretary, FRCN, Comr.. Oluchi Obilor, Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communication, Comr. Ogochukwu Chukwudike, Treasurer, Ministry of Information and Communication, and Comr. Thelma Ewoh, Financial Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and Communication.

In her concluding remarks, Comr. Ngene dedicated her new tenure to progress, unity, and the enduring spirit of service, expressing optimism that the next chapter of NAWOJ Enugu’s story would be even more impactful, inspiring, and inclusive. She prayed that the association would continue to rise and remain a model of excellence and sisterhood among women journalists.

She ended her address by saying, “May the next chapter of our story be even more impactful, inspiring, and inclusive. Thank you, and may our association continue to rise. God bless you all.”
