Workers Hail Governor Mbah Over His Choice of Surv. Justus Chime

…Say He Has Set a Standard for Service and Leadership

The Management, Staff, family, and friends of the Surveyor General of Enugu State, Surv. Justus Uchenna Chime (MNIS), have extolled his outstanding leadership qualities and commitment to duty, describing him as a workaholic and dedicated public servant whose passion for service continues to inspire many.

According to reports, these encomiums poured in during a special gathering organized recently to celebrate the birthday of Surv. Chime — an event that attracted colleagues, friends, and well-wishers from within and outside the Ministry.

Surv. Chime, who is widely admired for his humility, accessibility, fatherly leadership, open-door policy, and people-oriented approach to administration, has fostered a culture of unity, productivity, and mutual respect within the ministry and beyond.

The celebration was not only a recognition of his birthday but also a tribute to his exemplary character, kindness, and unwavering dedication to service — attributes that have earned him admiration across professional and social circles.

In his remarks, the celebrant expressed heartfelt gratitude to Almighty God for the gift of life and to his colleagues, staff, and fellow surveyors for organizing the surprise celebration. He noted that their gesture was a true demonstration of love and solidarity, while reaffirming his resolve to continue serving Enugu State with diligence and to safeguard the welfare of all staff members.

The ceremony featured the cutting of a birthday cake, goodwill messages, and a lively photography session with staff and associates.

Among the notable personalities in attendance were Dr. Jerry Egbonwonu, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary; Very Rev. Fr. Francis Agu of St. Peter’s Parish, Mkporogu, Emene; Surv. Uchechukwu Udeinya, Deputy Director, Mapping and Geo-Information; Surv. Dan Okorie, Director, Field Geodetic and Special Survey; Surv. Uzo Okezie, Head of Boundary Unit; Mrs. Ogochukwu Ekwe, Head of Administration; Mrs. Felicia Mbah, Director of Accounts; Barr. Nkechi Okegbe, Head of Legal Unit; and Mr. Benigus Ugwu, Head of Planning, Research and Statistics, among others.

It would be recalled that Surv. Chime was appointed Acting Surveyor General of Enugu State in 2023 by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, before being confirmed as the substantive Surveyor General in December 2024 — a decision workers and stakeholders continue to hail as a testament to the governor’s eye for competence and leadership.
