The Enugu State Marketing Company Ltd., the state government’s premier commercial enterprise, has commenced implementing the Subsidized Workers’ Food Scheme for Civil Servants, officially launched on October 8, 2025.
The landmark initiative, approved by His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, enables civil servants across Enugu State to access essential foodstuffs and household items on credit, with payments conveniently deducted from their monthly salaries.
This scheme is part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of its workforce and supporting household stability through accessible and flexible food supply solutions.
As the operational arm of this program, the Enugu State Marketing Company is responsible for the seamless procurement, supply, and distribution of subsidized food items, ensuring quality and affordability. The company also manages the payment logistics, providing a transparent and efficient process for workers to access goods on favorable terms.
To ensure effective participation, all Directors and Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were directed to submit lists of civil servants interested in the scheme, with copies of the submissions sent to the Head of Service.
