Nnaji Takes Helm of Enugu RAAMP, Pledges Timely, Standards-Driven Rural Infrastructure Delivery

Enugu State has signalled renewed momentum in its rural infrastructure agenda as Engr. formally assumed office as State Project Coordinator (SPC) of the (RAAMP).

The former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure took over at a ceremony held at the RAAMP State Project Implementation Unit office in Enugu, succeeding Mr. Boniface Madu, who had served in an acting capacity and was a member of the foundation team that midwifed the project’s take-off in the state.

In his acceptance remarks, Nnaji expressed appreciation to Governor for the appointment and pledged to consolidate on the groundwork already laid to ensure seamless execution of ongoing and upcoming projects.

He underscored the strategic importance of RAAMP in unlocking rural economic potential, improving agricultural value chains, and strengthening connectivity between farming communities and markets across the state.

Describing accountability and measurable impact as central pillars of his leadership, Nnaji assured stakeholders that all projects would strictly comply with donor guidelines and approved technical specifications.

“We will maintain full adherence to the standards of our funding partners from commencement to completion. Timely execution is not optional; it is fundamental to meeting the expectations of the ,” he said.

Reinforcing his execution philosophy, he stressed the importance of completion discipline in public infrastructure delivery. “Our mantra is simple, start and finish. Once a project begins, it must be completed on schedule and according to specification,” he stated.

Nnaji further disclosed that robust quality assurance and control mechanisms would be strengthened to ensure the durability and long-term sustainability of rural road infrastructure delivered under the programme.

With nearly four decades of professional experience, the new SPC brings a wealth of technical and administrative expertise to the role. A civil engineering graduate of the former Anambra State University of Technology, now (ESUT), he is a Fellow of the (FNSE) and the (FNICE), and a registered professional with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

He previously served as Commissioner for Science and Technology (2015–2017) and later as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure (2017–2023), where he supervised major urban and rural road projects across Enugu State. His professional portfolio also includes consultancy engagements on airport and defence infrastructure projects nationwide.

Stakeholders note that his blend of technical competence, leadership experience, and track record in infrastructure delivery places him in a strong position to drive the World Bank-backed RAAMP programme and accelerate rural connectivity and inclusive economic growth in Enugu State.
