
Professor Chukwuma Soludo has been officially sworn in for a second term as Governor of Anambra State at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, in a ceremony that drew top Nigerian leaders and dignitaries from across the country.


The oath-taking, held at 11:50 a.m., was witnessed by his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, alongside former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and other notable figures. The ceremony marked the beginning of a four-year term extending to 2030.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, praised Soludo for his “visionary leadership, integrity, and constructive counsel” in advancing nation-building. He highlighted the governor’s ability to unite without confrontation, noting that Anambra residents have entrusted Soludo with “a covenant with competence” for another term.

In his acceptance address, Governor Soludo reflected on his first term as a period of laying strong foundations, citing achievements in infrastructure, security, urban regeneration, and governance reforms. He affirmed his commitment to inclusivity, stating, “Politics is over, and it is time for governance. I shall continue to be governor of all.” Soludo also hinted at supporting an Igbo presidency in 2027 while urging patience in its pursuit.

The event showcased a united front of political leaders, including former governors, deputy governors from Delta, Kaduna, Enugu, and Abia States, and traditional leaders, emphasizing Anambra’s rising profile under Soludo’s administration.
