Far from being a routine pitch event, the competition is positioned as a strategic vehicle for building the next generation of high-growth companies capable of driving economic transformation, job creation, and industrial advancement. The initiative is being implemented under the South East Venture Capital Program (SEVCP), in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Commission disclosed that the program is structured to provide more than just funding. It offers a comprehensive support system that includes access to structured capital, business incubation and acceleration, as well as direct engagement with experienced mentors, investors, and strategic partners.

Startups operating in key priority sectors such as AgriTech, FinTech, HealthTech, Manufacturing, Clean Energy, Logistics, Creative Economy, and Digital/SaaS are strongly encouraged to apply. These sectors have been identified as critical drivers of sustainable development and regional competitiveness.

Successful applicants limited to just 30 startups from a highly competitive pool will benefit from funding of up to $20,000 under the Accelerator Track. In addition, they will gain entry into a growing $50 million regional venture capital ecosystem, positioning them for long-term growth and scalability.

According to the organisers, the initiative underscores a broader national commitment to fostering innovation, supporting entrepreneurship, and promoting inclusive economic development. By empowering startups with the right tools and resources, the program aims to unlock new opportunities for wealth creation and employment across the region.

Eligibility is open to startups building within or targeting markets in South East Nigeria. Interested founders and innovators are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to scale their solutions and connect with a wider investment network.

Applications are now open and can be submitted through the official portal: www.sedc.gov.ng/programs/sevcp/pitch. Additional details are available via the program’s FAQ link, while enquiries can be directed to sevcp@sedc.gov.ng.

The call for applications is endorsed by the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center), reaffirming its commitment to fostering a thriving innovation ecosystem and supporting the growth of small and medium-scale enterprises across Enugu State and the wider South East.
