The event, held on campus, attracted a significant turnout of students and featured an interactive session aimed at assessing awareness of government policies and ongoing projects under the Mbah administration. Participants who demonstrated knowledge of key initiatives were rewarded with items such as power banks, stethoscopes, hand fans, face masks, gloves, food packs, and beverages.

Organisers said the initiative was designed to bridge the gap between governance and the grassroots by making policy achievements more relatable and accessible, particularly among young people in academic communities.

During the engagement, representatives of the network highlighted developments across critical sectors, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, water supply, and economic growth. They cited ongoing projects within and around the university community, notably a water facility near the institution, which is expected to improve access to potable water upon completion.

Chairman of the network’s Board of Trustees, Cajetan Ali, commended the students for their participation, noting that their early presence and enthusiasm reflected growing interest in civic affairs. He emphasised the need for sustained public engagement and continuity in governance to consolidate developmental gains.

A key highlight of the visit was the donation of educational materials, including whiteboards and writing tools, to the university’s management to support teaching and learning.

Responding on behalf of the institution, Vice-Chancellor Professor John Emaimo, represented by the Dean of Students Affairs, Mrs. Ngozi Okafor, described the outreach as unprecedented. She noted that the initiative combined intellectual engagement with material support, adding that the institution continues to benefit from ongoing infrastructure projects within the state.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Enugu State chapter, Okeke Kelvin Chekwube, commended the administration’s focus on youth and education, stating that current policies reflect a commitment to student welfare and development.
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of the university, Ugwuoti Marius Ikechukwu, expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it brought governance closer to students. He added that visible projects and policies have strengthened student support for the administration.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Darlington Ugwuegbe, who appreciated the university management, staff, student leaders, and participants for their cooperation.
The outreach ended with students leaving the venue with distributed items and increased awareness of government activities, underscoring the role of grassroots engagement in enhancing public understanding of policy implementation.
