The meeting, convened by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, and held at his residence, served as a platform to formally congratulate newly elected party executives at the ward, local government, and state levels, including those who emerged at the recently concluded APC National Convention in Abuja.
Beyond the celebratory mood, stakeholders said the gathering also provided an opportunity for reflection on party cohesion and strategic mobilisation ahead of future electoral engagements in the state.

In his address, Prof. Onyia urged party members to move beyond internal celebrations and focus on strengthening grassroots structures. He called for an honest appraisal of mobilisation capacity across wards and encouraged members to fully commit to what he described as the “Project Defend and Deliver Your Ward” initiative.
He also rallied support for the forthcoming Awkunanaw Mega Rally scheduled for Saturday, April 11, describing it as a major show of solidarity for Governor Peter Mbah. According to him, “there is no vacancy in the Lion Building come 2027,” a statement that drew strong affirmation from party faithful in attendance.
Former President of the Senate, Chief Ken Nnamani, in his remarks, emphasized inclusivity and internal cohesion within the party structure. He urged leaders to ensure that long-standing members are not left behind in the evolving political arrangement, stressing that unity remains central to the party’s strength.
Senator Nnamani further attributed recent political gains within the party to what he described as a conducive political environment in the state, noting the emergence of Dr. Ben Nwoye as APC National Deputy Chairman (South) as an example of growing influence. He urged continued mobilisation and expressed confidence in sustained support for Governor Mbah based on his performance in office.
The Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, congratulated newly elected executives and reminded them that their emergence comes with responsibility. He called for discipline, loyalty, and sustained grassroots engagement, noting that effective party structure must remain connected to the electorate at all levels.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Dr. Caleb Onyema Ani, commended Governor Mbah’s leadership style, describing it as development-driven and people-focused. He highlighted ongoing infrastructural and administrative strides across the local government as evidence of governance impact, urging party members to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Rural Development, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, also addressed the gathering, commending the SSG for convening the meeting at a critical political moment. He called for unity and discipline within party ranks, stressing the importance of party supremacy and collective responsibility in sustaining political progress.
Chairman of APC in Enugu South, Rt. Hon. Freedom Nnam, who anchored the programme, expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their turnout and engagement. He noted that the level of participation reflected renewed commitment to strengthening the party structure, particularly at the grassroots. He assured that ongoing efforts would focus on consolidation, coordination, and mobilisation across all wards.
A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of progress reports by the 13 ward chairmen, who briefed stakeholders on achievements recorded so far, as well as operational challenges requiring attention. The ward leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening party structures and enhancing voter mobilisation ahead of upcoming elections.
In a unanimous position, stakeholders reiterated their support for Governor Peter Mbah, declaring that Enugu South Local Government Area remains firmly aligned with his administration. They expressed confidence in delivering overwhelming electoral support for his re-election bid in 2027, citing what they described as visible development projects and governance outcomes across the area.
They also pledged full participation and mobilisation for the upcoming Awkunanaw Mega Rally, describing Enugu South as a key stakeholder in the Awkunanaw political structure and vowing to ensure a strong turnout.
