
The Enugu State Government has announced a restriction of movement across the Enugu North Senatorial District in line with preparations for the by-election scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to a public service announcement issued by the government, the election will be conducted across the six Local Government Areas and 102 electoral wards that make up the senatorial district.
To ensure the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the exercise, residents are advised that there will be a restriction of both human and vehicular movement from 12:00 a.m. (midnight) to 6:00 p.m. on election day.
The announcement clarified that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, security personnel, accredited election observers, media practitioners, and other duly authorized persons on election duty will be exempted from the restriction.
Residents of the senatorial district are encouraged to comply with the directive and to participate in the electoral process peacefully and in accordance with established guidelines. Political parties, candidates, and their supporters are also urged to remain law-abiding before, during, and after the election.
Security agencies have been directed to ensure adequate enforcement and compliance throughout the period of the exercise in order to maintain order and safeguard the process.
The government expressed appreciation to residents for their understanding and cooperation, while wishing the people of Enugu North Senatorial District a peaceful and successful election.
