
In a significant development aimed at enhancing the legislative capacity of the House of Representatives, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen has appointed Hon. Engr. Anayo B. Onwuegbu as Chairman of the House Committee on Lake Chad.
Hon. Engr. Anayo B. Onwuegbu, a distinguished member of the 10th National Assembly, represents Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency of Enugu State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is well-positioned to drive meaningful development in the Lake Chad region, thanks to his expertise in engineering and commitment to his constituency.
The appointment is part of a broader reshuffle announced by Speaker Tajudeen, aimed at strengthening the House of Representatives’ committee structure.
Other new committee chairmen include Rep. Chris Nkwonta (Ukwa East/Ukwa West, Abia State), Chairman, House Committee on South East Development Commission (SEDC), Rep. Timehin Adelegbe, Chairman, Committee on Science Research Institutions, Rep. Kabiru Ahmadi Mai Palace, Chairman, House Committee on Sports, Rep. Abubakar Gummi, Chairman, House Committee on North East Development Commission (NEDC), Rep. Kama Nkemkanma, Chairman, House Committee on Climate Change and Security, Rep. Mohammed Mukthar, Chairman, Committee on Tourism, and Rep. Zakariya Idris, Chairman, Committee on Safety Standards.
These appointments aim to strengthen the House of Representatives’ committee structure and enhance its legislative effectiveness.
