The event, aimed at showcasing progress and outlining strategies for the Security Trust Fund, was inaugurated by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in February this year. The fund is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative designed to fortify the state’s security infrastructure and address various challenges.

According to the Board of Trustees, led by Dr. Ike Chioke and Engr. Chinedu Ani, the Security Trust Fund will support personal welfare, empower vigilant groups, procure additional security equipment, implement sophisticated CCTV systems, and enhance street lighting. The primary goal is to establish a central security coordination hub to combat security challenges in the state.

Hon. Okolo’s attendance underscores the importance of local government support for this initiative. As the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, his involvement demonstrates his commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of his constituents.
The Security Trust Fund aims to address a range of security issues, including arson, cattle rustling, conflicts between herders and farmers, fraud, cybercrimes, drug trafficking, proliferation of small arms and light weapons, assassination, banditry, theft, cultism, and political malfeasance.
With the 20 Billion Naira target, the Enugu State Security Trust Fund is poised to make a significant impact on the state’s security landscape.
