
In a stunning upset, 5’8″ Nwobodo Uzochukwu defeated 6’2″ Enekwechi Kingsley in the super heavyweight fight at the Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Boxing Championship. The match, which took place at the David’s Hill Entertainment Centre in Enugu, showcased Nwobodo’s brilliance as he out-punched Enekwechi in the 5th round.

Despite being the underdog due to his height disadvantage, Nwobodo, a young businessman who started boxing just two years ago, demonstrated remarkable agility and courage in challenging Enekwechi, who has been in the boxing world for seven years.


The crowd was thrilled by the intense match, which was initially scheduled for four rounds but extended to five at the request of the boxers. Another exciting match saw Raphael Joshua knock out Mbah Chinweuba in the second round of the heavyweight fight, earning him a ₦70,000 gift from the sponsor and CEO of David’s Hill Entertainment Centre, David Ebubechukwu Nwobodo.

Other winners of the day included Kelechi Ugwu, who defeated Precious Chukwudi in the 80kg fight, Kanayo Louis, who won against Ifeanyi Edeh in the middleweight fight, and Ozoemena Shedrack, who beat Chisom Joseph in the 71kg weight category.


The final of the championship is scheduled to take place today, February 14, 2025, at the same venue, with sports and boxing fans invited to watch the finals and discover new boxing champions in various weight categories.
