
Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, Member Representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, has emphasized the importance of youth participation in governance, noting that young people have a critical role to play in shaping the future of Enugu State. Represented by Sir Ephraim Offiah at the Enugu West Youth Summit, Hon. Onwuegbu, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Lake Chad, reiterated his commitment to empowering the youth.

The summit, held at the International Conference Center (ICC) in Enugu on May 24, 2025, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the critical role of youths in the development of Enugu State. Themed “Youth Participation: A Cornerstone for Sustainable Good Governance,” the summit provided a platform for young people to engage with policymakers and stakeholders.

Representing the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, was Senator Osita Ngwu, who highlighted the need for youths to participate in decision-making processes. “The future of our state is in the hands of our youths, and it is imperative that we empower them to take an active role in governance and leadership,” he said.

Other dignitaries present at the summit included Hon. Engr. Magnus Edeh, Member Representing Aninri in the Enugu State House of Assembly; Hon. Osita Eze, Member, Oji River State Constituency; Hon. Chris Ozongwu, Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Hon. Lloyd Ike Ekweremmadu, Commissioner for Youth and Sports; Hon. Frank Anioma, SSA to the Governor on Political Matters; Hon. Joe Aneke, SSA on Power; and Hon. Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, Chairman Aninri LGA.

The summit provided a platform for young people to engage with policymakers and stakeholders, discussing the challenges and opportunities facing young people in Enugu State. Throughout the summit, participants emphasized the importance of youth participation in governance and leadership, noting that young people have a critical role to play in shaping the future of Enugu State.
