
The Enugu State Government has commenced a major expansion of health education infrastructure with the flag-off of construction works at the Enugu State College of Nursing Sciences campuses in Oji River and Awgu.

He also flagged off the construction of a 200-bed hostel at the Awgu Campus of the College.
The governor, represented at the events by his Special Adviser on Health, Dr Yomi Jaye, reaffirmed that the administration remains firmly committed to prioritising education and healthcare as key pillars of its development agenda.
According to Government House Correspondent Fred Nnaji, the governor further disclosed that approval had been granted for the comprehensive renovation of the administrative block, classrooms, and hostel facilities of the Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River.
He urged communities in Oji River and Awgu to cooperate with contractors handling the projects, stressing that the objective is to ensure that the Oji River Campus admits its first set of students before the end of 2026.
Speaking on the development, the Provost of the Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River, Dr Lazarus Ezeugwu, described the intervention as a “fresh injection of life” into the institution, noting that it would reposition the college for greater academic and infrastructural excellence.
Similarly, the Provost of the Parklane and Awgu Campuses of the College of Nursing Sciences, Dr Peace Anih, expressed appreciation to the state government, pledging effective oversight and protection of the projects to ensure timely and quality delivery.
The contractors handling the projects have been given a four-month deadline to complete the facilities across both campuses.
