The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has been named 2025 Best Crime-Busting Police Chief in West Africa, while the Command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, emerged Best Police Public Relations Officer in Nigeria at the 19th Africa Security Watch Awards.
The two officers received the honours from the Security Watch Africa Initiative at the Enugu State Police Command Headquarters, GRA, Enugu, in recognition of their policing records and professional contributions to security and police-public relations in the state.
Presenting the awards, the International Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the Initiative, Mr Patrick Agbambu, said the recipients were selected after a review of their respective policing antecedents and professional contributions.
Agbambu urged CP Giwa to sustain his proactive approach to crime prevention and combating, while charging SP Ndukwe to consolidate his strategic communication and public-relations efforts in strengthening the relationship between the police and the public.
For CP Giwa, the award was an affirmation of a collective effort.
The Commissioner thanked the organisers for the recognition and attributed the achievement to Almighty God, while acknowledging the support of the Enugu State Government, law-abiding citizens and other stakeholders whose cooperation, he said, had contributed to the Command’s successes.
Ndukwe, in a separate response, expressed appreciation to the organisers and dedicated his award to Almighty God, CP Giwa and the people of Enugu State for their continued support.
The awards formed part of the 19th Africa Security Watch Awards, following the 19th Africa Security Watch Conference held in July 2026 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre, Banjul, The Gambia.
The twin recognition places Enugu Command’s leadership and public-relations machinery in the spotlight, with the honours coming as a significant endorsement of the Command’s approach to crime fighting and strategic police communication.
