Awgu Wards, Ugbo Communities Rally Behind Tinubu, Mbah, Okolo, Other APC Candidates as Campaign Train Receives Endorsements, Highlights Development Needs

The campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Awgu Local Government Area on Monday moved through Awgu Wards 1 and 2 and communities in the Ugbo axis, where stakeholders, community leaders, women and youths voiced support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Enugu State Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Awgu chairmanship candidate Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo and other APC candidates ahead of the September 26 local government elections.

The engagements took the campaign team through Ugwulesi, Adoagbolato, Ogboli, Ohaja, Ugbokpala, Ngene Ugbo and Ugbonabo, providing an opportunity for the candidates and party leaders to interact directly with residents and hear their concerns.

At Awgu Ward 2, stakeholders highlighted road infrastructure and agricultural support as key priorities, with particular calls for improved access roads and assistance to farmers, including fertiliser.

The Ward Chairman, Chief Alex Nwobi, outgoing Councillor Hon. Kelechi Nwankwo, Mazzi Ausca, Lady Mary Olachi, Evangelist Precious Akachukwu, former Mayor Hon. Pedro Okwudirichukwu Nwankwo, Hon. Nelson Uduji, Hon. Okey Nathan Ude, Hon. Hypolite Okeafor, APC Chairman Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo and Hon. Anthony Nwankwo were among those who addressed the gathering.

Several speakers expressed support for the APC candidates and commended what they described as the people-oriented approach of the Mbah administration and the grassroots engagement of the local campaign team.

At Ward 1, the campaign team similarly engaged political and community stakeholders, with speakers including Sir Steven Nweke, Hon. Barr. Linus Mmaduka, former Councillor Hon. Emmanuel Uduji, Hon. Ferdinand, former Awgu Council Chairman Joe Ani and Hon. Okey Nathan Ude.

The campaign later proceeded to the Ugbo axis, covering Ugbokpala, Ngene Ugbo and Ugbonabo, where stakeholders also voiced support for Tinubu, Mbah, Okolo and other APC candidates.

Director of Projects at the South East Development Commission, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, spoke on the administration’s development agenda and urged the people of Ugbo to support the APC candidates. Other speakers included Rt. Hon. Alex Chiedozie Ogbonnia, Hon. Barr. Eze O. Eze, Hon. Nduka Eze and High Chief Hojoli Joseph.

Speaking during the engagements, Okolo highlighted projects attributed to the Mbah administration, including the Smart Schools programme, healthcare infrastructure, road projects and plans for agricultural development.

He said the campaign was also an opportunity to listen to communities and assured residents that issues raised during the meetings would receive attention within the appropriate government channels.

The campaign delegation included Okolo; his deputy, Dr. Stanley Ezediuto; campaign Director-General Hon. Okey Nathan Ude; APC Chairman Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo; SLG Rt. Hon. Nelson Nduji; Hon. Anthony Nwankwo, APC candidate for Awgu South State Constituency; Hon. Charles Ezenta, APC candidate for Awgu North State Constituency; Hon. Pedro Nwankwo; Hon. Raphy Onovo; Prof. G.I. Udeuhere and other party leaders and supporters.

Across the communities visited, the meetings combined political mobilisation with discussions on roads, agriculture, healthcare, education and other local development priorities, with stakeholders publicly declaring their positions in support of the APC candidates.
