Uzo-Uwani Must Be Greater Than How We Met It – Council Boss, Ezugwu

The Executive Chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ezugwu, has stated that the council has witnessed significant transformation under his administration through deliberate interventions in security, human capital development and critical infrastructure.

Chairman, Ezugwu made this disclosure on Wednesday during the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign rally ahead of the Saturday Local Government Elections in Enugu State, held at Nkpologu in Adada Development Center.

Ezugwu noted that prior to his assumption of office in 2024, Uzo-Uwani which prided itself as the food basket of Enugu State, was on the verge of losing its status as farmers could no longer access their farmlands due to insecurity, maintaining that his administration was able to win the war against insecurity due to the peoples’ prayers, support by the governor of the state, Peter Mbah and the gallant Nigerian security personnel.

According to him, “What we have done in Uzo-Uwani is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. Before we assumed office, Uzo-Uwani faced severe security challenges that prevented our farmers from going to the farm. We were at the verge of losing our pride as the food basket of the state. We came in and swung into action. Through the unwavering support of our indefatigable Governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and the gallant efforts of our security agencies, we have won the war against insecurity. Today, our farmers are back to their farms and are recording bountiful harvests. We will leave Uzo-Uwani greater than we met it.”

In his remarks, the Member representing Uzo-Uwani Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Ekwueme, called on the people to sustain their support for the APC at all levels, assuring that promises made to the council during the last election will be fulfilled.

“Our Council Chairman is performing beyond imagination. I have no doubt that his works will speak for him and ensure his victorious return. I urge us to support all our councillorship candidates, as we prepare to deliver all our candidates in the 2027 general elections,” Ekwueme stated.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialization, Dr. Patrick Ubru, said there has been a clear paradigm shift from the past.

“I thank the good people of Uzo-Uwani for their steadfast support. As it is often said, the voice of the people is the voice of God. Come Saturday, we will vote massively for Hon. Chijioke Ezugwu and all our councillors. Uzo-Uwani is an agrarian council, and we can all attest to the great departure from where we were to where we are today. For us to continue to enjoy the attention of the state government, we must continue to align with His Excellency and support the party,” Ubru said.

Earlier in his address, the Director-General of the Uzo-Uwani APC Campaign Council, Barr. Vincent Diugwu, commended the council chairman for replicating the transformational leadership of Governor Peter Mbah at the grassroots.

He urged the electorate to come out en-masse to vote for the APC in the local government elections slated for Saturday, 26th September.

“If you look at what is happening in our party today, you will agree that we are performing well. Hon. Chijioke has written his name in the sands of time. Look at what our Senator, Senator Ikeje Asogwa, is achieving within a few months in office. It shows we have every reason to support this party because more dividends are coming for our people. I urge all of us to troop out and vote for APC on Saturday,” the DG said.
