The All Progressives Congress (APC), Enugu State Chapter, on Thursday held a grand rally across Nkanu East and Nkanu West Local Government Areas, with Governor Peter Mbah leading the party’s mobilisation ahead of the September 26 local government elections.

A major highlight of the rally was the presentation of the APC flag to Hon. Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, popularly known as “Mmirioma Na Nkanu,” the party’s candidate for Nkanu East Local Government Area.
The flag presentation took place at Amagunze, headquarters of Nkanu East, amid cheers from party supporters and residents who gathered in large numbers for the rally.
Ogbuekwe received the party flag and waved it to the cheering crowd, drawing an enthusiastic response from the good people of Nkanu East and APC supporters at the event.
The rally, jointly organised by Nkanu East and Nkanu West councils, brought together prominent APC leaders, elected representatives, party stakeholders and supporters as the party rounded off its campaign activities ahead of Saturday’s council election.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Mbah urged APC supporters to vote for the party’s candidates across all positions, cautioning against attempts to persuade voters to split their votes among different political parties.
“Let no one lie to you. Let no one deceive you about splitting your votes by voting different candidates of different political parties for different positions. It is all lies. Vote APC all the way, from top to bottom. There is no room for vote sharing,” Mbah said.
The governor called on voters to turn out en masse on Saturday and support the APC candidates, pointing to the development projects being implemented across the state.
He particularly highlighted the administration’s focus on rural communities, including investments in roads, Smart Green Schools and Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, stressing that sustainable development and poverty reduction must begin at the grassroots.
Mbah also encouraged local government chairmen to intensify the delivery of projects such as boreholes, rural roads and healthcare facilities in their respective communities.
The Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, welcomed Governor Mbah and the APC leadership to Nkanu East and pledged continued support for the party and the governor’s administration.
Similarly, the Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Chief John Ogbodo, commended Governor Mbah for the Smart Green Schools and other development projects across the council.
The member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nnoli Nnaji, also commended the governor’s development initiatives.
Nnaji highlighted interventions by federal lawmakers from Enugu East Senatorial District, including the provision of electricity transformers to each of the 14 wards in Nkanu East Local Government Area, as well as mobility support for party officials and the Neighbourhood Watch in the constituency.
The rally was attended by the Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Senator Kelvin Chukwunwike; APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Dr. Ben Nwonye; South-East APC Zonal Woman Leader, Dr. Oby Ajih; APC Enugu State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike; members of the National and State Assemblies; party leaders and supporters from across Nkanu East and Nkanu West.
The event further underscored the APC’s mobilisation across the two local government areas as the party moved into the final stage of its campaign ahead of Saturday’s local government election.
