CSDA Sensitises Three More Communities in Nkanu East, Engages Residents on Participatory Rural Appraisal

The Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has extended its community sensitisation and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercise to three additional communities in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The CSDA team visited Amechi Idodo, Okeani Aniyi Amagunze and Uhuona Ugbawka, where residents were engaged on the objectives, processes and significance of the PRA exercise.

The sensitisation provided an opportunity for community members to identify their most pressing development needs, deliberate on possible interventions and contribute directly to the planning of projects that could improve their living conditions.

Speaking during the exercise, the CSDA team urged residents to actively participate in the process, emphasising transparency, cooperation and collective ownership as critical to the success and sustainability of community development projects.

As part of the exercise, elections were conducted for the Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) in the affected communities. The newly elected members were subsequently sworn in by the General Manager of the Agency, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani.

The formation and inauguration of the CPMC committees are expected to strengthen community participation and provide a structured platform for residents to take ownership of projects implemented under the community development initiative.

Meanwhile, stakeholders across the beneficiary communities commended the Enugu State Government for what they described as an unprecedented community-focused intervention aimed at addressing grassroots development needs.

They expressed appreciation for the participatory approach, noting that involving residents in identifying their priority needs would help ensure that development interventions are better aligned with the actual challenges confronting communities.

The ongoing exercise forms part of efforts by the Enugu State Government, through the CSDA, to deepen grassroots participation and promote sustainable, community-driven development across the state.
