Agu gave the warning during his maiden interaction with the management and staff of the Ministry of Transport after his formal introduction by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) at the SSG’s office.

The commissioner, who subsequently proceeded to the ministry to assume his responsibilities, called on staff, Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) and officers of the Enugu State Transport Management Authority (ESTMA) to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, integrity and commitment to public service.

He cautioned against any conduct capable of bringing the ministry into disrepute, urging personnel to operate strictly within the laws, regulations and guidelines governing the transport sector.

Agu also expressed his readiness to work closely with the ministry’s management and workforce to strengthen transport administration and improve service delivery across the state.
He noted that effective administration of the transport sector requires cooperation, accountability and dedication from all personnel, adding that public confidence depends largely on the responsible discharge of official duties.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Ikechukwu Nnamoko, congratulated the commissioner on his assumption of office and assured him of the workforce’s commitment to discipline, cooperation and effective service delivery.
Nnamoko expressed confidence that a cordial working relationship between the commissioner, management and staff would promote unity, enhance operational efficiency and advance the state government’s transport development agenda.
Similarly, the Director of Finance, Mrs. Tochukwu Ekwegbo, speaking on behalf of the management, assured Agu of their readiness to work harmoniously with him.
Ekwegbo expressed the hope that the relationship would be anchored on mutual respect, understanding and cooperation, describing the anticipated working environment as that of a father-and-children relationship.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to teamwork, responsible conduct and improved transport administration in Enugu State.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the state government’s vision of a safe, orderly, disciplined and efficient transport system for residents.
