
The Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Council, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, has urged Nigerians to renew their hopes towards a peaceful and united Nigeria as the country celebrates its 64th Independence Day anniversary.
In a statement released on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Edeh congratulated Nigerians on the milestone, saying, “It gives me great pleasure to offer my warmest congratulations on the 64th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence, and Happy New Month, together with my best wishes to continued happiness and prosperity.”
Edeh encouraged the people of Nkanu East and Nigerians to keep hope alive, despite the challenges facing the nation. “I wish to, on behalf of my family, encourage ndị Nkanu East to keep hope alive and endeavour to keep supporting our brother, His Excellency Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in his disruptive agenda,” he said.
The chairman emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in building a great nation. “As we forge ahead, we must reminisce more on the things that bind us together rather than divisive tendencies. A peaceful Nkanu East, Enugu and United Nigeria with rich diversity can surmount any obstacle that may rear its head.”
Edeh also felicitated with the people of Nkanu East on the auspicious occasion, stressing that the passion to build a great nation must be a collective duty. “It’s my desire that we continue to strengthen our brotherhood without taking into account our diverse background, religious inclination, and political affiliation.”
He concluded by saying, “Once again, happy anniversary and welcome to a New Month. God bless Nigeria. God bless Enugu State. God bless Nkanu East.”
