
The atmosphere was electric today at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters as Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, the newly sworn-in Executive Chairman, made his grand entrance to the reception following his official oath-taking ceremony alongside his Deputy, Hon. Stanley Uchenna Ezediuto, Ph.D.


The event celebrated the commencement of their leadership at the helm of the Awgu Local Government Area. Earlier today, at the prestigious Government House in Enugu, Hon. Okolo and Hon. Ezediuto took their oaths of office with solemnity and commitment, marking a new chapter for the Awgu community. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including political leaders, community representatives, and family members.



As Hon. Okolo arrived at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters, he was greeted with enthusiastic applause and cheers from supporters, well-wishers, and local community members. Dressed in traditional attire, he radiated confidence and determination, embodying the spirit of hope for positive change in the region.

During the reception, Hon. Okolo expressed his gratitude to the people of Awgu for their overwhelming support throughout the election process. “Today marks not just a personal achievement but a collective victory for all of us,” he stated. He affirmed his commitment to addressing pressing issues within the community, including infrastructure development, education enhancement, and improved healthcare services.


Hon. Ezediuto echoed his resolve to work collaboratively with community stakeholders to achieve their shared vision for Awgu. “Together, we will navigate the challenges ahead and ensure that our governance reflects the aspirations of our people,” he remarked.

The reception was filled with joyous celebrations, traditional music, and dance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Awgu. Community leaders took turns speaking, offering their support and best wishes to the new administration.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at Sullivan Chime Civic Center, Awgu Local Government Secretariat, began with an opening prayer led by Lolo Nkiru Onuorah, followed by the presentation of colanut by PDP Chairman Awgu Local Government, Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo, to Igwe Godwin Nwobi. The Master of Ceremony, Sir Kingsley Ogbonna, introduced the guests.

In his inaugural speech, Hon. Okolo expressed gratitude to his Deputy, Dr. Stanley Uchenna Ezediuto, for his consistent support and partnership, which played a significant role in their overwhelming election victory. He also thanked Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, his wife, party leaders, stakeholders, supporters, and his family for their relentless efforts and backing.

Hon. Okolo reaffirmed his commitment to offering Ndi Awgu the finest leadership, validating Governor Mbah’s “business unusual government” centered on good governance and progressive development. He pledged that his administration would focus on enhancing infrastructure, empowering the youth, and fostering economic growth through agriculture and other positive means, ensuring every community benefits from this leadership.
