
Nkanu East Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, has called for collaborative efforts and support from community leaders, security agencies, and other stakeholders to tackle insecurity in Nkanu East.

According to Hon. Edeh, until stakeholders, especially community leaders, prioritize efforts towards curbing the security menace in the area, the desired peace and stability may not be achieved. He emphasized the importance of collective action, stating, “The meeting was summoned to enable me to meet, interact with you and collectively fashion out possible ways to end security issues in the area.”

Hon. Edeh urged stakeholders, particularly community leaders, to scrutinize inhabitants of their communities, monitor their activities, and report suspicious actions to relevant authorities for prompt action. He reassured that his administration will continue to support Enugu State Governor, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and his efforts to ensure residents’ safety.

“We will continue to complement His Excellency’s efforts to make sure that our people go to bed with two eyes closed,” Hon. Edeh said. To achieve this, efforts are being made to provide necessary support to security agencies, and review the activities of neighborhood watch in the area.

He reiterated his leadership commitment to eradicating insecurity in Nkanu East by supporting security agencies and community leaders. The stakeholders, in their separate speeches, applauded the council chairman’s efforts in curbing insecurity, and pledged to support his initiatives.
The stakeholders commended Hon. Edeh’s pragmatic and proactive approaches, saying, “We have seen your commitment, and we will support and partner with you.” The security meeting had in attendance representatives from Nigeria Police, Civil Defence, DSS, traditional rulers, Town Union presidents, and other stakeholders.

With Hon. Edeh’s commitment and the support of the community, Nkanu East is poised to achieve peace and stability.
