
A devastating petrol tanker explosion occurred in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, claiming the lives of at least 105 people and leaving 55 others injured.

The tanker, traveling from Kano to Nguru town in Yobe State, lost control near Khadija University, resulting in the catastrophic explosion.
Eyewitnesses reported that after the incident, some people rushed to the scene to scoop up spilled fuel, which unfortunately led to the high casualty count. The injured were hospitalized at Ringim General Hospital, but due to limited bed capacity, some were transferred to the Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu.
The police spokesperson confirmed the updated casualty figures, stating, “As I am talking to you now, the casualty figure is about 105, and the number of injured is 55, as against the 50 earlier confirmed.” Preparations are currently underway for a mass burial, as most of the victims were burnt beyond recognition.
