BREAKING NEWS: Chidi Chidebe Wins PDP Chairmanship Election

Mr. Chidi Chidebe has emerged as the new Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, following a congress held at the Women Development Centre, Awka, on Thursday.

Chidebe, a former PDP Youth Leader in Anambra, polled a total of 1,080 votes to defeat his opponent, Amechi Onowu, who scored 960 votes. Charles Anierobi was elected Deputy Chairman, while Mr. Ebele Onunkwo emerged as Secretary of the party.

Ifeanyi Ossai, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State and Chairman of the Anambra PDP Congress Committee, congratulated the new Chairman and urged him to rebuild, restore, and reconcile all aggrieved party members in the state. Ossai emphasized the importance of unity, stating that victory could only be achieved when all members were united under one umbrella.

“Last week, when we failed to conduct the congress, I assured PDP members in Anambra that it would be free, fair, and transparent. I am happy that this came to fruition,” Ossai said. He further advised the new leadership to work with those who contested but did not win, ensuring inclusivity and cooperation within the party.

The new leadership of the PDP in Anambra State includes:

– Chairman: Chidi Chidebe

– Deputy Chairman: Charles Anierobi

– Secretary: Ebele Onunkwo

This development marks a significant milestone for the PDP in Anambra State, and the new leadership is expected to strengthen the party’s presence and prepare for future elections.
