The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has vehemently denied allegations of ill-funding, corruption, and meager budgetary allocation to divisions, labeling a recent article by Ecos Intelligence as “fake, misleading, and inaccurate.”
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The NPF maintained that Divisional Police Officers receive statutory funding based on established allocations from the federal government, coupled with support from their respective state governments. This contradicts claims that officers rely solely on unofficial sources of funds for operations, including bail payments.
The Inspector General of Police has ordered an immediate investigation to identify those responsible for spreading misinformation. The move aims to address the damaging allegations and restore public trust in the institution.
While acknowledging that inadequate funding has long been a challenge for the police, the current government has demonstrated commitment to increasing funding to enhance operations and improve policing capabilities. The funding situation has begun to show notable improvement, with promising prospects for further enhancement in the upcoming year.
The NPF reaffirmed its commitment to transparency in discharging its duties and warned mischief makers to desist from attempts to detract and malign its progress. The Force will not permit malicious individuals to continue to disparage the institution or slander its dedicated officers.
The statement was signed by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
