HON. ANAYO ONWUEGBU’S NCE/PGDE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME BENEFITS 130 STUDENTS IN ANINRI/AWGU/OJI-RIVER CONSTITUENCY

In a remarkable display of commitment to education and youth empowerment, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, Member Representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, has sponsored 130 students in National Teachers Institute (NTI), NCE and PGDE scholarship program.

The students’ matriculation ceremony which took place in Awgu Local Government Area Headquarters, Saturday, June 29, 2024, marked a significant milestone in Hon. Onwuegbu’s efforts to raise literacy levels and provide a secured future for students from his constituency.

In his address, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, ably represented by Sir Ephraim Offiah, encouraged the students to work hard and consciously exhibit undeterred dedication towards their studies, as he emphasized the importance of education in shaping their future and also a veritable channel for contributing to societal development.

Speaking, Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir, the NTI Director and Chief Executive, represented by Garba Ladan, highlighted the Institute’s mission to provide courses for Teachers’ development, upgrading, and certification, through distance education techniques. He stressed the necessity of dedication and commitment to studies, and further announced that the Institute has restructured its NCE program to align with national standards, to allow students graduate in three years.

In his own speech, Member Representing Oji-River State Constituency, Hon. Osita Eze, lauded Onwuegbu’s scholarship initiative, encouraging the students to take their studies seriously. While the State’s Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke in her vote of thanks, commended Hon. Onwuegbu’s milestone achievements towards championing the prospective Teachers’ scholarship in his constituency, as she equally encouraged the students to make the most of the opportunity, and be diligent in their studies.

Dignitaries at the event included, the Hon. Member Representing Aninri State Constituency, Hon. Magnus Edeh; State Chairman PPSMB, Rev. Fr. Hillary Mgbodile, who was represented by Chief Casmir Udeh, Mrs. Gladis Orjieze, Prof. PC Eneh of Oji-River Study Center, SSA on Awgu Const. Matters; Hon. Ifeanyi Chukwu, the Former Secretary to the Oji-River Local Government; Hon. Nnaemeka Umerah, Former Ohaneze Ndigbo President, Oji-River; Hon. Ifeanyi Nwaozo.

Other Reputable Dignitaries present were, Hon. Mrs. Mary Nwafor, SSA on Youths and Students Matters; Hon. Michael Okibe, Hon. Chimaroke Gabriel, Former Supervisor Of Education Awgu; Hon. Nwabueze Nwonwu, the PDP Chairman, Aninri LGA; Hon. Sir. Chibuike Okolo, PDP Chairman Oji-River; Chief Godwin Anikwe, other Members of Hon. Onwuegbu’s Media Team and numerous aides to say the least.

The event acknowledged prayers led by Dr. Franca Emma Okolie and group photographs were observed.
