The project, spearheaded by Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, aligns with Governor Dr. Peter Mbah’s vision of improved infrastructure and quality of life for all residents of Enugu State.

According to reports, the expansion to Owelli follows successful drilling sites in Ogbaku and Ihe, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to addressing critical needs across Awgu under the “One Day, One Project” mantra.
The initiative aims to provide 24/7 water access to every household across Awgu’s 10 wards. Awgu Local Government Area, with its headquarters in Ezineri Mgbidi, encompasses various towns, including Agbogugu, Isu-Awa, Ituku, Ihe, Ogbaku, Owelli, and Ogugu.
Hon. Okolo’s administration is tackling the area’s rugged terrain and diverse geography, which have made access to clean water a significant challenge. By expanding borehole drilling to Owelli, the administration moves closer to realizing a healthier, thriving community, united in Governor Mbah’s goal of “Tomorrow Is Here.”
Reacting to the development, officials stated that the “One Day, One Project” initiative reaffirms the administration’s dedication to improving lives in Awgu.
