SHOCK DEFEAT: Nigeria’s Super Eagles Fall 2-1 to Rwanda in AFCON Qualifier

Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a stunning 2-1 defeat to Rwanda in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Despite already securing their spot in next year’s tournament as Group D winners, the three-time African champions took the lead in the 59th minute with a brilliant solo goal from Samuel Chukwueze.

However, Rwanda staged a remarkable comeback, scoring two quick goals through Ange Mutsinzi and Innocent Nshuti to claim their first-ever win over Nigeria.

This loss marked the first defeat under interim manager Augustine Eguavoen, whose future in the role remains uncertain.
