ENUGU STATE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT ANNOUNCES ONGOING BIOMETRIC REGISTRATION EXERCISE FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IN NSUKKA

The Enugu State Ministry of Transport has announced an ongoing biometric registration exercise for all commercial vehicles operating in Nsukka. This exercise, which is currently underway, aims to capture the biometric data of all commercial vehicle operators in the area.

According to a public announcement signed by Odumegwu Chinwendu, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Enugu State, the registration exercise is mandatory for all commercial vehicles, including tricycles (Keke), Mini-buses, Tippers, Tankers, Taxis, Siennas, and other commercial vehicles.

The announcement stated that the registration exercise is completely free of charge, but only until December 13th, 2024. After the deadline, enforcement will commence, and penalties will be incurred.

  • Time: 9:00 am daily
  • Deadline: December 13th, 2024

The Ministry of Transport is urging all commercial vehicle operators in Nsukka to take advantage of this opportunity to register their vehicles biometrically for free. Failure to comply with this directive may result in penalties and other sanctions.

The biometric registration exercise is part of the Enugu State Government’s efforts to enhance the safety and security of commercial vehicle operations in the state. By capturing the biometric data of commercial vehicle operators, the government aims to reduce the incidence of crime and improve the overall efficiency of the transportation sector.
