In a move that underscores the Enugu State government’s commitment to participatory governance, transparency, and community development, the state government has handed over state projects in IgboEze North Local Government Area (LGA) to the leadership of host political wards.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The projects were handed over to Ward Councillors, Presidents-General of Town Unions, and Traditional Rulers during a visit by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, and other top government officials. Prof. Onyia encouraged the community leaders to take charge of the projects, supervise and protect them, and ensure their completion by September 2025.
“Go there three times a week. Take still pictures and videos, with time stamp and geo-stamp respectively. The Governor has called you as partners, to take custody of these projects, to supervise and protect them, in a bid to making sure these projects, especially the Smart Green Schools will be ready for our children by September, 2025,” Prof. Onyia said.
The Executive Chairman of IgboEze North LGA, Hon. Michael U. Ogalla, praised the governor’s innovative approach to governance and his commitment to delivering impactful projects. He highlighted the governor’s achievements, including the construction of 260 Smart Green Schools, Type 2 Healthcare Facilities in all wards, and an Asphalt Plant serving the entire state.
“We are no longer looking for our tomorrow as it is here already. We are no more looking for solution because the solution is already here, and that solution is His Excellency Gov Peter Mba,” Hon. Ogalla said.
Continuing, the host Council boss, Hon. Ogalla, remarked that there is no Governor in Nigeria doing what Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mba is doing. “Under the catch phrase of disruptive innovation, we are talking of 260 Smart Green Schools, which IgboEze North LGA is a major beneficiary. We are talking about Type 2 Healthcare Facilities in all the wards, no other Governor in Nigeria has embarked on these kind of massive projects. There is the Asphalt Plant serving the entire state and beyond. There is the 5000 capacity International Conference Center. Security has improved, what we thought was impossible, immediately became possible. Under the Budget of Exponential Growth and Inclusive Prosperity, Enugu Air is coming. 200 hectares of Farm Estates in every ward. All these are courtesy of the performing catalyst, His Excellency Peter Ndubuisi Mba. If we continue to count, we are not going to leave here today.
“In IgboEze North, we are following in the footprints of His Excellency Gov Peter Ndubuisi Mba. I have promised the good people of IgboEze North that whatever the Governor does at the State level, we shall replicate same here, and that informs why my government immediately after assumption of office, embarked on massive rural road rehabilitation, we have seven machines working simultaneously in various wards, and I can assure you that before the end of November all link roads in IgboEze North would have gotten desired attention. Rural electrification is ongoing in some Communities, refurbishing of the Council Secretariat is not left behind, motivation and strengthening of our security architecture is already getting our attention”, Hon. Ogalla remarked.
In his remarks, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia praised the chairman, Hon. Michael U. Ogalla, for his exceptional leadership qualities and his ability to deliver on the governor’s vision. “I am not surprised while your chairman was itemizing his achievements so far. My analysis of him is not based on political consideration, it is based on his capacity to be able to think around complex situations and present very logical solutions to help move IgboEze North LGA forward,” Prof. Onyia said.
Addressing the Stakeholders, the chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, ENHA, Hon Clifford Obe, thanked the governor of Enugu State for his developmental strides, and urged the people to continue to support the government.
It was a sea of heads as the leaders and people of IgboEze North LGA came out in their numbers to honour the invitation of the Council boss to welcome the visiting team led by the SSG. On ground to participate in the interactive session were the Council Chairman, Hon Michael Uche Ogalla, the Vice Chairman of the Council Hon Abba Joseph, the Secretary to the LGA, Hon Onyekachi Eya, the member representing IgboEze North State Constituency II, Hon Clifford Obe, the State Financial Secretary of the PDP, Hon Ejike Williams Itodo, the Zonal Woman Leader of the PDP, Hon Ngozi Ezeja, the LGA Party Chairman, Dr Solomon Ogili and members of his Executive, Administrators of all the Development Centres, fmr Mayors, fmr Commissioners, Honourable Councillors of the Council, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Presidents, among other stakeholders.
