The tour, which was led by the Chairman of ALGON, Enugu State, Hon. Okechukwu Sidney Udeh, was attended by local government chairmen from across the state, including the Mayor of Awgu LGA, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, who expressed his admiration for the school’s cutting-edge facilities and innovative approach to education.
“Today, I joined my colleagues under the esteemed leadership of the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State, Hon. Okechukwu Sidney Udeh, as we toured the extraordinary Smart Green School in Owo, Nkanu East,” Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo said. “This remarkable institution, located in the hometown of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, stands as a testament to the governor’s unwavering commitment to innovation, education, and sustainable development.”
The Smart Green School is a vision brought to life, where technology, sustainability, and quality education converge to prepare students for a brighter future. The school boasts cutting-edge facilities, including digital smart boards, mechatronics labs, and fully equipped science laboratories.
In addition to its academic programs, the school also focuses on practical skills and sustainable development. Students participate in initiatives like greenhouse farming, fish ponds, and smart agro poultry farms, which prepares them for a future in sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship.

The Smart Green School initiative is part of the Enugu State government’s broader plan to establish 260 SMART & GREEN Integrated school campuses across the state. This ambitious project aims to address the alarming 48% drop-out rate identified by a 2019 UNESCO Study.
