
The Awgu Local Government Council, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has hosted World Disability Day in the council area, distributing essential items to members of the Joint National Association of People with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Awgu Local Government Area Chapter.

The event, which was held at Awgu Local government Council headquarters in commemoration of this year’s World Disability Day, had as its theme “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.” The theme emphasizes the importance of empowering individuals with disabilities to take on leadership roles.
During the event, the council donated wheelchairs, clutches, walking aids, and other essential items to the members of JONAPWD. The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Council was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon Ndubuisi F. Nwaudeigwe.

In his remarks, Hon Nwaudeigwe assured the members of JONAPWD that the council is committed to meeting their needs. He emphasized the council’s dedication to promoting the welfare and well-being of persons with disabilities in the area.

The Chairman of JONAPWD, Awgu Local Government Area Chapter, Mr Gabriel Chukwujike, expressed his gratitude to the council for the donation. He praised the council’s efforts in promoting the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

The event was attended by members of JONAPWD, council officials, and other stakeholders. It was seen as a significant step towards promoting the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities in Awgu Local Government Area.
