UMUOGBI YOUTH ORGANISATION, NKEREFI HOSTS SUCCESSFUL 2024/2025 ANNUAL YOUTH DAY

The Umuogbi Youth Organisation (UYO), Nkerefi recently concluded its highly anticipated 2024/2025 Annual Youth Day celebration, which took place from January 4th to January 6th, 2025. The three-day event showcased the organisation’s commitment to youth development, empowerment, and community building through a series of impactful activities and exciting competitions.

A cornerstone of the event was the Youth Empowerment and Educational Support Initiative, aimed at fostering academic excellence and capacity building among youngsters. A highlight of this segment was a keenly contested quiz competition, from which several outstanding participants emerged as beneficiaries of the initiative.

The following individuals received educational support as part of the program: Chukwu Miracle, Nwanze Felicia, Anih Johnson, Ezeomoh Livina, Onu Favour, Njoku Nwanneka, Egbo Helen, Eze Nzube, Roseline Anih, and Richard Happiness. This initiative emphasizes UYO’s commitment to nurturing future leaders and investing in the intellectual development of its youth.

The event reached its climax on January 6th with the highly anticipated Football Tournament Finals. After days of fierce competition, Umuonuafor FC faced off against Obeagu Phase 1 FC in a thrilling final match. The game ended in a dramatic penalty shootout, with Umuonuafor FC emerging victorious, cementing their position as champions. In the battle for third place, Enyibuzo/Obunego FC triumphed over Nkwo City in an equally intense match. The football tournament not only fostered camaraderie and sportsmanship but also brought the community together in celebration of its vibrant sporting talents.

The grand finale of the event saw locals, dignitaries, and well-wishers treated to the mesmerizing sounds of Ebe music, which added a touch of cultural elegance to the celebrations. The melodious tunes served as a fitting conclusion to a successful and memorable Annual Youth Day.

Speaking to journalists, the President of UYO, Rev. Sunday Eze, expressed profound gratitude to the sponsors, including Shedrack Onunze, Umuogbi Youth in Diaspora, and others who contributed to the event’s success. He commended all participants and emphasized that everyone was a winner in the grand celebration of youth and community.

Rev. Eze declared, “The Umuogbi Youth Day has come to stay,” signaling the organisation’s dedication to making the annual event a cornerstone of community development and engagement.

In his remarks, Rev. Eze also emphasized the importance of community support and participation in the organisation’s activities. He appealed for continued support from individuals and organisations, stressing that the success of the organisation’s programs depends on the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
