
The Enugu State Government has issued a public service announcement alerting residents about an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), commonly known as bird flu, in Kano State.

According to the announcement, the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Industrialization has directed its Veterinary personnel to implement preventive measures to mitigate the risk of the disease spreading to Enugu State.
These measures include awareness and sensitization of poultry farmers, traders, and the general public on the risks associated with HPAI and necessary prevention strategies. Surveillance teams have also been deployed to monitor poultry farms and markets for signs of HPAI.
Residents are urged to report any unusual bird deaths or symptoms indicative of HPAI to the contacts below or any other Veterinary personnel available.
The Enugu State Government emphasizes the importance of cooperation from all stakeholders to prevent the spread of HPAI and protect both human and animal health.

The Enugu State Government advises residents to take precautions to prevent the spread of HPAI, including avoiding contact with sick or dead birds, washing hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling birds or their droppings, keeping poultry farms and markets clean and disinfected, and reporting any unusual bird deaths or symptoms to the relevant authorities.
The government is working closely with relevant authorities, including the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to monitor the situation and prevent the spread of HPAI.
