ENUGU STATE PREPARES FOR 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL AS AWGU GAMES VILLAGE UNDERGOES INSPECTION

Uchenna Joseph Okolo, recently received the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ike Lloyd Ekweremadu Jr., who led an inspection of the Awgu Games Village. The visit was aimed at assessing the village’s readiness to host the 23rd National Sports Festival.

The inspection, which is part of the Enugu State Government’s efforts to ensure the Games Village meets national standards, was led by Commissioner Ekweremadu Jr. under the directive of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

According to sources, the inspection highlighted the need for enhanced infrastructure, which is critical to the successful hosting of the event. The state government has reiterated its commitment to promoting sports development, empowering the youth, and fostering community engagement.

The 23rd National Sports Festival is expected to position Awgu as a center for excellence in sports. The event, which will be hosted in Enugu State for the first time in 28 years, will attract over 15,000 athletes from across the country.

The Enugu State Government has promised to deliver a memorable experience for athletes and spectators alike, with the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and other key facilities being upgraded to world-class standards.
