Anayo Onwuegbu, the Member Representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, conducted an inspection tour of the Achi Joint Hospital on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
The visit, which was part of Hon. Onwuegbu’s efforts to assess the hospital’s condition and identify areas for improvement, was a significant step towards actualizing his vision of transforming the healthcare landscape in his constituency.
Upon arrival, Hon. Onwuegbu was received by a delegation of community leaders, including the SSA on Mobilisation to the Senate Minority Whip, Hon. Emeka Anukwelu; the President General of Elugwu la Nkpokolo Autonomous Community, Achi, Chief Anayo Ejeagbasi; and the former Party Chairman, Oji River LGA, Hon. Solomon Nze.
As Hon. Onwuegbu toured the hospital facilities, he expressed concern over the dilapidated state of the infrastructure, emphasizing the need for urgent intervention to restore the hospital to its former glory.
“We are committed to upgrading this hospital to a tertiary medical facility, and we will ensure that the project is completed in record time,” Hon. Onwuegbu assured the community. “We will also involve the community in the project to ensure that their needs are met and that the facility is tailored to their specific requirements.”
The inspection tour included visits to various hospital units, including the male and female wards, children’s wards, theater, laboratory, and more. Hon. Onwuegbu also addressed the issue of erosion at the hospital’s entrance, which poses a threat to the major roads, and directed immediate mobilization of heavy-duty equipment to clear the premises and rehabilitate the non-functional borehole.
Hon. Onwuegbu’s efforts to upgrade the hospital are part of his broader commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in his constituency. His visit to the Achi Joint Hospital demonstrates his dedication to addressing the healthcare needs of his constituents and ensuring that they have access to quality medical care.
