FEDERAL GOVERNMENT EMPOWERS YOUTHS THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Mrs. Olubumi Olusanya, has charged Nigerian youths to be innovative and develop effective strategies to transform their entrepreneurial ventures.

Mrs. Olusanya made this call during the closing ceremony of a 10-day training program for unemployed youths from the South-East geopolitical zone, held at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Okworjo, Ngwo, Enugu North Local Government Area, Enugu State.

The program, which was part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed to equip young people with essential skills to curb youth unemployment and foster economic growth. Mrs. Olusanya emphasized the importance of digital marketing skills and effective sales strategies in transforming their businesses.

In her keynote address, Mrs. Olusanya, who was represented by the Director of Enterprise Promotion, Mr. Michael Ngwaogu, noted that the program was designed to empower youths with the necessary skills to become self-employed and create jobs for others.

The Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, expressed gratitude to the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, and Mrs. Olusanya for bringing the program to the South-East region after a 17-year hiatus.

“The Minister’s positive response to my request for a youth training program in the South-East is a testament to his commitment to developing every part of the country,” Ekweremadu said. “It is good to see that at the turn of the new year, this program was held.”

Ekweremadu commended the organizers and participants for their dedication and resilience. “I urge you to use the knowledge you have acquired to advance your community and state,” he stated.

Earlier, the Camp Coordinator and Deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Mr. Chukwuma Ugwuoke, explained that 88 youths from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states successfully graduated from the program, having shown good conduct and character.

Dignitaries who attended the program include the Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu; the Director of Enterprise Promotion, Mr. Michael Ngwaogu; the Deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and Program Coordinator, Mr. Chukwuma Ugwuoke; and the Camp Coordinator, Mrs. Maureen Okeiyi.

Others include the South-East Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Chinyere Eze; Mrs. Simbo Akinsoto of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development; the Head of Youth Department, Mrs. Chidimma Ezezue; and the Director of Information, Mr. Dan Onwuegbuna, both of the Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Community leaders who attended the event include Nze Collins Ude, who represented Igwe Retired Col. Udeh of Imeama Okworjo Ngwo; Chief Felix Onoh; and the Youth Leader of the community, Mr. Udechukwu, among others.
