The pledge was made by the Chairman of ALGON, Hon. Sydney Edeh, during a meeting with the Board of Trustees of the ESSTF, led by its Chairman, Dr. Ike Chioke.

According to Dr. Chioke, the ESSTF was established to create a central funding and security coordination point to strengthen the state’s security infrastructure. He noted that the fund has a target of N20 billion annually to support various security projects in the state.

The ESSTF, a public-private partnership, is designed to improve the state’s security infrastructure while fostering development and prosperity for its residents. Some of the projects to be funded through the initiative include personnel welfare, purchase of additional weaponry, empowerment of vigilante groups, CCTV architecture and street light systems, purchase of security vehicles, support to security agencies, as well as public fundraising events.

Hon. Edeh, who spoke on behalf of the 17 council chairmen in the state, assured that the council areas would support all the programmes and policies of the state government aimed at improving security of lives and property at the grassroots.

He expressed confidence in the members of the fund, noting that they have achieved successes in their various areas of endeavour. The ALGON chairman recalled the challenges of insecurity that have been bedeviling the local communities, and commended the state government for initiating the ESSTF.

The support of ALGON is seen as a significant boost to the ESSTF, which is part of Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to ridding the state of insecurity and other criminal activities.
