According to a post on her official social media handles, Mrs. Mbah met with the victim, who had her hand severed by her husband in a horrific incident of domestic violence.
Mrs. Mbah assured the victim that she is not alone and that the state government stands firmly with her. She also confirmed that the perpetrator is currently in custody and will face justice.
“This kind of violence will not be tolerated in Enugu State,” Mrs. Mbah stated. “We will ensure that the maximum justice is served, and we will not stop fighting until every woman in Enugu feels safe in her home.”
The Enugu State Government has launched several initiatives aimed at supporting survivors of domestic violence, including a free eyecare program for women and a health program for expectant mothers.
Mrs. Mbah’s commitment to ending domestic violence has been commended by residents and civil society organizations, who lauded her vocal advocacy and the state government’s commitment to action.
