In a stunning reversal of fortunes, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, a former stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the Labour Party to contest the Enugu State governorship election, has declared his intention to return to the PDP.

Speaking during the meeting, Edeoga stated, “I will consult widely, because I’m a product of several men and women of goodwill. It is not the nature of an Igbo man to respond to a message immediately, but I will take it home to my party before further decision, after which I will get part to the party Chairman of PDP.”
The Enugu State PDP Chairman, Dr. Chukwunweike while confirming the meeting, declined to provide further details, stating that discussions are still ongoing.
Edeoga’s potential return to the PDP is seen as a significant development in Enugu State politics, given his influence and popularity among party faithful.
The move is also being viewed as a strategic calculation by Edeoga, who had contested the governorship election under the Labour Party banner, only to have his petition dismissed by the Appeal Court, which affirmed Dr. Peter Mbah of the PDP as the duly elected Governor of Enugu State. The Supreme Court also reaffirmed Gov. Mbah’s victory, dismissing Edeoga’s petition.
