In a move set to bring smiles to the faces of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members nationwide, the Federal Government has announced that corps members will start receiving a monthly allowance of N77,000 from February 2025.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, broke the news while addressing 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina on Thursday.
According to Ahmed, the increment has been incorporated into the 2025 Federal Government budget. “This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he stated.
The NYSC boss encouraged corps members to show appreciation for the increase by being diligent during their service year. He also reassured them that they would not be posted to areas experiencing security threats, prioritizing their welfare and security.
“We will not send our corps members to wherever we have challenges of security threats. Wherever we send them, they should be less assured that the place is safe and secured for them to serve,” Ahmed said.
The development is a significant boost to corps members, who have been advocating for an increase in their monthly allowance.
