ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT ISSUES FINAL DEMOLITION NOTICE FOR STRUCTURES ALONG MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS

The Enugu State Government, through its Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, has issued a final notice of demolition for marked structures along two major road projects in the state.

According to a public service announcement issued by the Ministry, the affected areas include the 44.1km Nike Lake Road dualization Project (Peenox – Nowas – Ugwogo – Opi Nsukka dualization, Abakpa Nike – Opi Nsukka Junction) and also the marked structures along the 21.5km Enugu Airport Road Flyover Bridge – Eke Obinagu – Owo Junction – Amechi Idodo – Ebonyi State Border.

The government has given property owners, residents, and business owners in these areas 24 hours to remove their belongings and vacate the premises to avoid damage or loss of life. This notice is a follow-up to earlier notifications issued on October 30, 2024.

Additionally, a field inspection and evaluation of structures for compensation purposes were conducted from November 4 to November 11, 2024.

The government has urged those affected to remove all their belongings and vacate the premises with immediate effect. Complaints and compensation claims should be directed to the Land/Property Reconciliation and Compensation Committee, located in the Abuja Building, Government House Enugu.

The Enugu State Government has emphasized that this serves as the final notice, and prompt compliance is advised to avoid any adverse consequences.
