The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning with the passing of veteran Nollywood actor, Columbus Irisoanga, popularly known as ‘Igbudu’. The sad news was announced by fellow actress and politician, Hilda Dokubo, on Instagram.
According to Dokubo, Irisoanga has “gone to be with the Lord”, leaving behind a heavy heart for the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and the entire Nollywood community.
Dokubo took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late actor, writing: “Our uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu. There can’t be a shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport Rivers state Nollywood.”
Irisoanga’s passing comes just days after the death of another Nollywood actress, Pat Ugwu, who was 35 years old.
The Nigerian film industry has lost a talented actor and a pillar of the Nollywood community. His contributions to the industry will be deeply missed.
