
…Seeks Establishment Of Disability Commission
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The Enugu State chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his impressive achievements in the past 20 months, particularly in initiatives aimed at transformation and good governance.
In a press statement issued on February 15, 2025, the association’s chairman, Comrade Onyebuchi Mba, praised Governor Mbah’s administration for initiating several projects and programs aimed at boosting economic growth, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the lives of Enugu State citizens.
Some of the notable projects and programs highlighted by JONAPWD include the establishment of a N100 billion Revolving Fund to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the creation of Special Economic Zones and Special Agro-allied Processing Zones, partnership with private investors to build specialist hospitals, prioritization of road construction, development of a multi-modal transportation system, and plans to construct flyovers and dualize roads.
However, the association expressed its eagerness to see the establishment of the Enugu State Disability Commission and the implementation of the Disability Rights Law, which Governor Mbah pledged to inaugurate within the first quarter of 2025.
JONAPWD also commended Hon. Ngozi Enih, the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, for her commitment to advocating for the disability community.
