The exercise, scheduled to begin on February 24, 2025, aims to update and validate the records of eligible beneficiaries.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the exercise is designed to ensure that only legitimate beneficiaries receive their gratuity and related entitlements. The government also seeks to eliminate fraud, discrepancies, and delays in the payment process.
The verification exercise will take place across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Enugu State, with specific dates assigned to each LGA. Retirees and next of kin are required to present original documents and photocopies, including notice of retirement, pension identification card, and bank verification number, among others.
The government has also established a grievance redress mechanism to address complaints and inquiries. Retirees can contact the helpline on 0916-810-1470 or email verifygratuity@gmail.com.
The Enugu State Government has assured retirees and next of kin of a transparent, efficient, and inclusive verification process. The government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens is evident in this initiative, which aims to bring relief and succor to those who have served the state.
